the midsummer blues....

Well yesterday i was up for a full 21 hours, and then slept for 5. Needless to say, I am feeling a little 'under the weather' especially since, according to the weather reports we are in for another muggy, 90 degree day. What ever happened to serene summer weather in the 70's and 80's? I do live in NY after all, not the tropics...speaking of tropics and BLUES I DID find a design plan for that GORGEOUS blue Peruvian Opal...

I wanted it to be a simple design so focus goes to the color of this faceted beauty! So i put it on silk thread and knotted it: earthy, relaxed..pretty, but just not ME if you know what i mean LOL. So i started over. With the thread, the whole stone shape was out for view. Upon taking it apart, i accidentally broke a bit of the stone where the beading hole is...very sad, but, it made way for a new and better design! I Opted for my signature look of bigger briollettes...since this is about 20mm I handwired the top and then cotinued wrapping the stone about 20% down, carefully and symmetrically. Now it has the look of a revered treasure...Most of it is peeking out of the wrapped wire, the pop of color is just fabulous...but since the top is covered up with the wire wraps, it gives a more mysterious look. Whereas before, the whole stone was just a bit too naked and out there. Much like in today's world, being a little covered up by clothes is much more alluring that having it ALL out as I am seeing more and more often. Showing a little stone is ok, but having the whole thing out there? eh it's ok, but not as interesting to look at...

As I will be racing against time to finish last weeks orders today, and may not have time to post too much, but be sure to check back this weekend for about 25 news posted items at www.artwark.com ENJOY YOUR FRIDAY!
